gaza - An agreement has been reached for a ceasefire and hostage exchange in Gaza after 466 days of conflict. The ceasefire is set to start on January 19, with efforts led by the US, Qatar, and Egypt.

An agreement has been reached for a ceasefire and hostage exchange in Gaza, putting an end to 466 days of conflict between Israel and Hamas. The ceasefire, set to start on January 19, was first announced by US President-elect Donald Trump.

The initial announcement of the ceasefire agreement came from US President-elect Donald Trump. Shortly after, Qatari Foreign Minister Muhammed bin Abdurrahman Al Sani stated that an agreement had been reached on the ceasefire and prisoner exchange between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

Following this, US President Joe Biden, along with Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of State Antony Blinken, held a press conference at the White House to announce the details of the agreement.

Hamas described the ceasefire agreement as a turning point in the conflict with Israel. They thanked Turkey, South Africa, Algeria, Russia, China, and all countries that had supported the rights of Palestinians and the oppressed in Gaza.

European Union welcomed the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. Meanwhile, Turkish President Erdogan expressed satisfaction with the ceasefire agreement between the Palestinian Resistance Movement Hamas and Israel. Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan also conveyed good wishes for the ceasefire in Gaza during a phone call with Hamas officials.

According to reports, Israeli security cabinet will vote on the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement at 11 am local time. After the security cabinet meeting, the agreement will be presented for government approval.

The ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas is said to consist of three stages, each lasting 42 days. The first stage includes the release of 33 Israeli hostages, withdrawal of Israeli troops from most areas in Gaza, and the release of Palestinian prisoners.
