World less peaceful

amsterdam - The world is less peaceful than a year ago. The Netherlands is of the 163 countries surveyed in 21st place in the ranking of the most peaceful countries. Iceland is still the most peaceful country in the world. It reports the British newspaper The Independent.

The conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa, according to the Australian think tank IEP, which carried out the survey, the main reason that the peacefulness fell slightly.

Netherlands ranks 21. According to the researchers arms exports undermine the peacefulness of the Netherlands. Our country belongs with Russia, Israel, Sweden and Switzerland among the largest exporters of arms in the world.

Researchers from the IEP contrasting the British Independent news that ten countries are completely conflict free: Botswana, Chile, Costa Rica, Mauritius, Panama, Qatar, Uruguay, Vietnam, Switzerland and Japan. That does not mean that they are free from violence. In Botswana, for example, committed relatively many murders.
