- A Spanish tourist during a vacation in the Canary Islands bitten by a shark. That happened on Christmas Day for the coast of the resort town of Aguimes on the island of Gran Canaria.

Cris Ojeda-Thies had gone swimming and was at 20 meters from the beach when the shark struck. I noticed that something caught my left arm, but paid no further attention to because it felt like the playful bite of a dog , Ojeda-Thies says, according to The Daily Mail in a Spanish newspaper.
ZijdehaaiDe Hispanic woman continued: Half a second later I felt I was grabbed. I turned around and saw how it drew me. It was a fish. I hit it with my left and saw shark fins as it swam away. It all happened so fast, a few seconds. Although it was not painful episode, I only realized when I walked out of the water how serious it was.
Presumably Ojeda-Thies was attacked by a shark side. President Fernando Frias Canary Shark Alliance suggests that attacks by the predators are very rare in the waters around the Canary Islands.
