east jerusalem - Israel announces security restrictions at Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem throughout Ramadan, sparking controversy.

Israel Imposes Security Restrictions at Al-Aqsa Mosque

Israel has announced that security restrictions will be enforced at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and its surroundings in East Jerusalem during the holy month of Ramadan. The Israeli Government Spokesperson, David Mencer, stated that 'security restrictions' will be imposed in the Old City of Jerusalem where the Al-Aqsa Mosque is located. Mencer mentioned that these restrictions are a routine measure taken for public safety.

Although specific details of the security measures were not disclosed, Mencer claimed that they aim to prevent violent incidents. It has been reported that 3,000 armed security personnel will be deployed at the checkpoints leading to the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Last year, only men over 55 and women over 50 were allowed to enter the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in Islam.
