US provider may sell your browser history

Tech March 24, 2017 08:27

washington - American ISPs may soon likely sell the browser histories of their customers, and they do not need to ask permission. The Senate in Washington, where Republicans are in the majority, on Thursday decided to privacy rules that were introduced under the previous government, turning back. Providers were hoping that, because they want to sell ads.

The old rules were set by the Federal Communications Commission, the watchdog of the American government. The Senate has not only reversed those rules, but the FCC has also forbidden to ever enter strict privacy rules.

The new rule is not final yet. The House of Representatives must still vote, but also because the Republicans have a majority.
