Karim Benzema, 38, has taken himself out of Al Ittihad's first team squad following a contract extension offer that he found disrespectful, sources revealed to ESPN. The French striker, a former Real Madrid captain and the 2022 Ballon d'Or winner, scored eight goals this season for Al Ittihad.

Al Ittihad's Match without Benzema

On Thursday, Al Ittihad played to a 2-2 draw against Al Fateh in the Saudi Pro League, with Saleh Al-Shehri stepping up in Benzema's absence to open the scoring. This result places Al Ittihad in sixth position in the league standings.

Kanté's Possible Move to Fenerbahçe

Meanwhile, France midfielder N'Golo Kanté is reportedly close to finalizing terms with Fenerbahçe after three seasons in the Saudi Pro League. Negotiations are ongoing between Al Ittihad and Fenerbahçe to avoid losing Kanté on a free transfer, as his contract expires this summer.
