usa, south korea - Since the re-election of Donald Trump, young American women have shown interest in a celibacy trend inspired by their South Korean counterparts, as a form of protest.

McKenna, a 24-year-old woman, recently returned to dating apps after a year of celibacy. She had two upcoming dates planned for the weekend but canceled them after Trump's election win. 'I find it heartbreaking to know that in this country, you only matter if you are a heterosexual white man,' she said. 'I will not allow a man to touch me until I regain my rights.'

4B, meaning 'four ways to say no,' originated in South Korea and advocates abstaining from heterosexual relationships, dating, sex, and pregnancies as a form of protest. The movement began around 2018 as a response to revenge porn and evolved into a feminist movement similar to #MeToo.

McKenna is not the only one in the US following 4B. The movement is gaining momentum among disappointed Democratic voters who aim for sexual abstinence. 'What we want is not to be labeled simply as a man's woman or girlfriend but to be independent,' said Haein Shim, a South Korean activist. 'Girls, it's time to boycott all men.'

4B has faced criticism from feminists who question whether it ignores the desires of heterosexual women and well-meaning men. Shim, the activist, stated that the movement goes beyond boycotting men. 'It is a new lifestyle focusing on building safe communities, both online and offline, and reevaluating sexuality in this world.'

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and Trump supporter, views prolific reproduction as a way to prevent population decline. He even offered to impregnate Taylor Swift, a supporter of Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. Musk highlighted the declining fertility rates in South Korea as a case study for Americans not prioritizing childbearing.

South Korea faces low fertility rates due to high living costs and a work-centric culture. Some companies offer incentives for employees with three or more children, while the government organizes blind date events for singles.
