A high court judge ruled that a cocaine dealer cannot be deported to Nigeria because he claims to be 'possessed' and hears voices, with inadequate mental health support available in Africa. This decision was made on humanitarian grounds, as reported by The Telegraph.

In a previous case, an Albanian criminal was not deported from England because his son disliked 'foreign chicken nuggets'. Similarly, a Pakistani pedophile serving a prison sentence was not sent back to his homeland due to concerns for his children.

The man in question was sentenced to seven years in 2011 for an armed robbery at a brothel. After his release, he turned to drug dealing in 2018 and was caught with a significant amount of crack cocaine. Despite the UK government's decision to deport him after serving his sentence, the judge intervened citing the disparity in psychiatric care between Africa and England.

Referring to an Amnesty International report highlighting the risks faced by individuals claiming to possess demonic powers in Nigeria, the judge blocked the deportation. Alp Mehmet, Chairman of Migration Watch UK, expressed concerns over the ruling, questioning the responsibility of the UK to address the health issues of foreign criminals.

The man claims to be drug-free now and volunteers one day a week.
