mexico city - Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum fulfills her campaign promise by sending a reform package to Congress with proposals aimed at achieving gender equality in Mexico.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, the first female president of Mexico, is pushing for equal rights for women. She sent a reform package to Congress aiming to include gender equality in the constitution, close the wage gap between men and women, and provide equal job opportunities for women in public administration.

She also seeks to enshrine women's right to a life free from violence in the constitution, addressing the pressing issue of violence against women in Mexico where ten women are murdered daily.

Sheinbaum's serious commitment to women's empowerment is evident with the establishment of a dedicated Ministry for Women, led by Citlalli Hernández, a former senator and Secretary-General of the ruling party Morena.

In her inaugural speech, President Sheinbaum passionately emphasized the need for women's empowerment, stating that it is time for change in Mexico as the country elects a female president for the first time in its 203-year history.

She paid tribute to all women, especially those who fought for their dreams, acknowledging the struggles of indigenous women, domestic workers, and generations of women who faced gender inequalities.

Sheinbaum celebrated breaking the 'glass ceiling' for women in Mexico, seventy years after women were granted the right to vote, expressing gratitude to all women who contributed to her historic presidency.
