uk - The UK is set to announce a new support package for Ukraine amid Trump's pressure, marking a challenge to the US President. The package includes military aid and sanctions.

UK to Provide Support Package for Ukraine Against Trump's Pressure

The British Telegraph newspaper reveals that UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer will announce a new support package for Ukraine despite pressure from US President Donald Trump. The package, termed as a 'triple blow,' includes military aid and sanctions, with details to be disclosed on Monday, the third anniversary of the Russian invasion. The package, involving three government departments, is being prepared in Whitehall. The Defense Ministry is expected to unveil the military dimensions of the aid, possibly including additional weapons for Ukrainian forces. The Foreign Ministry is gearing up for significant sanctions against Russia, while the Home Office aims to initiate pressure on 'dirty Russian money.' UK officials describe this package as a 'complete triple blow' to underline the UK's support for Kiev.

President Trump, accusing UK PM Starmer of 'doing nothing' to end the conflict, has labeled Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as a 'dictator.' The UK's new support package for Ukraine risks disappointing the White House. However, a senior government source defends the approach by emphasizing the UK's commitment to bolstering Ukraine's position, whether in negotiations or ongoing conflict. In an effort to ease tensions, PM Starmer is expected to announce a historic commitment of 2.5% of the UK GDP for defense by 2030 during his visit to the White House with French President Macron. Additionally, a letter from the King of England will be delivered to invite President Trump, making him the first elected leader to receive this honor twice in modern history.

In a recent interview with Fox News, President Trump criticized PM Starmer and President Macron for their alleged inaction in ending the war between Ukraine and Russia. Trump expressed frustration with Zelensky's negotiation approach and criticized the lack of progress in peace talks. The US Treasury Secretary's visit to Ukraine was dismissed by Trump as 'a wasted and dangerous trip.' Trump also questioned Zelensky's absence from peace negotiations, highlighting the devastation in Ukraine over the past three years.
