united kingdom - Albanian man's deportation from the UK postponed after objections raised over son's food aversion.

Albanian Criminal's Deportation Halted

An Albanian man, Klevis Disha, who was facing deportation from the UK following his prison sentence, has been granted permission to stay in the country.

Disha objected to his deportation in court, citing his son's sensitivity towards certain foods, particularly expressing disdain for 'the kind of chicken nuggets available abroad'.

The court ruled that deporting the father and son would violate their right to family life under the European Convention on Human Rights. The case has sparked controversy, with Shadow Justice Minister Robert Jenrick calling it 'astonishing' and criticizing the judicial consideration of such trivial matters.

Disha, who arrived in the UK in 2001 under a false identity at the age of 15, initially had his asylum application rejected. However, he was granted British citizenship in 2007. In September, he was sentenced to two years in prison after being caught with £250,000 in cash (over €300,000) from criminal activities.

Former Home Secretary Priti Patel ordered his deportation to Albania, which was later overturned on appeal. Lawyers revealed that Disha's son also has 'sensory issues' with certain clothing items, particularly socks.
