los angeles, california - The first victims of the wildfires in Los Angeles, California have been identified, including a father who refused to abandon his disabled son. Read more on the tragic events.

The retired Anthony Mitchell (67) and his son Justin, who had cerebral palsy and was in his early twenties, lost their lives in the Eaton fire in Altadena. Mitchell's daughter shared that he was found bedside of his son, indicating his attempt to save Justin from the flames. A third victim, 66-year-old Victor Shaw, passed away trying to defend his home against the fire, with a garden hose still in his hand. Another victim, eighty-year-old Rodney Nickerson, was found in his burned home despite attempts by family and neighbors to convince him to evacuate.

Erliene Kelley, a retired pharmacy technician, also perished in the wildfires. The community mourns the loss of these individuals who were part of the Pasadena Altadena neighborhood for many years.

The tragic events highlight the devastating impact of the California wildfires and the heroic efforts made by individuals to protect their loved ones and homes.
