Argentinian President Javier Milei has made good on his pledge to address bureaucracy in the country by abolishing an unusual law, known as Law 20,483. This law stipulates that the president becomes the godfather or godmother of the seventh child born to a couple.

The peculiar law was originally established based on an ancient folk belief, also known as 'El lobison', which alleges that the seventh son born into a family transforms into a werewolf on their thirteenth birthday. In the past, this superstition tragically resulted in neglected or abandoned children. Hence, in 1907, the government sought to address this issue by enacting a law to safeguard the 'werewolves'.

Consequently, Milei's predecessor, Alberto Ángel Fernández, became the godfather of a staggering 66 children. The number of children under Milei's guardianship remains undisclosed. However, given that werewolves do not exist, the government under Milei deemed it appropriate to abolish the law.
