rome - According to Minister Horst Seehofer (Home Affairs), Germany has reached an agreement with Italy on taking back migrants. 'Only the signatures of my Italian colleague and myself are missing,' said the CSU member on Thursday in the German Lower House, the Bundestag.
Seehofer said that it will probably take a few days until the signing is a fact. To save travel costs, the documents are sent. Germany also previously made similar agreements with Spain and Greece. They make it possible to send back migrants who are already registered there.
Sources around the Italian Interior Ministry also say that negotiations are only concluded once the deal has been signed.
