liverpool, uk - Liverpool secures a deal to acquire forward Will Wright from Salford City despite competition from Arsenal. The 17-year-old striker impressed at youth level and will join Liverpool's U21 team.

Liverpool Secures Deal to Sign Will Wright

Liverpool has successfully secured a deal to acquire young forward Will Wright from Salford City, beating competition from Arsenal. The 17-year-old player, known for his goal-scoring abilities at the youth level, will make the move to Liverpool's U21 squad.

Background on Will Wright

Will Wright made his debut for Salford in the EFL Trophy against Wolves under-21s last November. Despite his young age, he managed to make two appearances in League Two last season, showcasing his talent and potential.

Deal Details

According to a source, Liverpool will pay an initial fee of £200,000 ($267,000) for the striker, with additional add-ons included in the agreement.

Choice Over Arsenal

Although Arsenal showed interest in signing Wright, the player was swayed by Liverpool's project and the opportunity to stay in the North West. This decision led him to choose the Premier League champions over Arsenal.

Transition to Liverpool

Upon completing his move to Liverpool, Will Wright will join the U21 side, which is currently under the coaching of former Wales boss Rob Page. Page took over the role after the departure of long-serving academy coach Barry Lewtas, who had been with the club for 12 years.
