Inter Miami Goalkeeper Drake Callender Joins Charlotte FC

Inter Miami CF goalkeeper Drake Callender has made a move to Charlotte FC in a recent trade. The deal involves $400,000 in 2025 General Allocation Money (GAM) and $350,000 in 2026 GAM.

Experience and Expectations

Charlotte FC's general manager, Zoran Krneta, highlighted Callender's three-plus years of MLS experience and his potential for goalkeeper development. Callender, a finalist for the Goalkeeper of the Year award in 2022, is seen as a valuable addition to strengthen Charlotte's goalkeeping core.

Injury and Transition

Callender started the 2025 season on the sidelines due to an injury sustained while playing for the United States men's national team. He later lost his starting role to Oscar Ustari under Miami coach Javier Mascherano.

Despite his limited appearances in 2025, Callender's past contributions and potential have positioned him as a promising asset for Charlotte FC.
