beaufort - More than forty monkeys have managed to escape from the lab and are still at large, despite efforts by authorities.

More than forty monkeys have managed to escape from a research lab in an apparent breakout. The police have opened a search operation as the monkeys are still on the run.

Despite the use of monkey traps and heat cameras, the authorities have not been able to capture any of the escaped macaques. These young female monkeys weigh between two to three kilograms and have not been used for research purposes yet.

The lab has a general idea of where the monkeys are headed, but their attempts to capture the group have been unsuccessful so far. Greg Westergaard, the CEO of the research lab, expressed his frustration over the situation but remains hopeful for a positive resolution. The monkeys were able to escape due to a door not being properly locked by a staff member.

The group of a total of 43 macaques followed each other out and are believed to be traveling together. Seven monkeys have remained behind. Authorities describe the group of monkeys as timid and are hopeful that they will find their way back to the lab on their own.
