brussels, belgium - Belgian airspace shut down temporarily as air traffic control faces technical problem.

Belgian Airspace Closed

The Belgian airspace has been closed due to a technical issue at air traffic controller skeyes, reported by Belgian news agency Belga. Around 3:00 PM, it was discovered that skeyes' air traffic control system was not functioning properly, according to a company spokesperson. As a result, the airspace has been temporarily shut down, leading to the suspension of landings and take-offs at major airports in Belgium, such as Brussels Airport.

The cause of the problem remains unclear. All aircraft in the airspace under skeyes' control (up to approximately 7500 meters altitude) were rerouted to surrounding countries. The spokesperson stated that this rerouting was done safely using a backup system.
