Record number of applications for asylum in Japan

- Most refugees who come into Japan come from Nepal, Sri Lanka and Turkey.

Japan is one of the strictest countries in the world when it comes to allowing asylum seekers. Last year, only eleven people a residence permit.

The land is generous with financial aid to countries hosting many refugees, for example from Syria. Japan contributes $ 2 billion (1.8 billion euro) while in the care of those people.
