Promo codes in Google Play Store

- Developers can now give away promotional codes for apps and games in the Play Store. Google has added the option on the app store.

A creator of an app or game can give away promotional codes, for example to provide a game temporarily cheaper or for free. If you receive a code, you can enter it in the Play Store, after which the app can be downloaded.

Google puts on its help page for developers explain how it works. This shows that there is a limit to the number of codes. Per quarter can be created up to 500 promotional codes per app. Codes that are given away, must be redeemed in the same quarter. Then they are no longer valid.
