Stefan de Keersmaecker, spokesperson for the EU Commission, stated that US President Donald Trump has not initiated any contact with EU officials since assuming office on January 20. There have been no meetings between Trump and EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, nor has the visit of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, to the US been planned.

All top EU officials have sent congratulatory messages to Trump after his inauguration, expressing eagerness to work together. However, during Trump's first term, relations between the EU and the US significantly deteriorated, with Trump making concerning remarks about the EU in various areas, including defense and trade.
