Ally Watt Traded to Denver Summit FC

Forward Ally Watt has made a groundbreaking move from Orlando Pride to Denver Summit FC, becoming the first player for the 2026 NWSL expansion team, sources confirmed to ESPN.

Loan Back to Orlando Pride

Despite the trade, Watt was immediately loaned back to Orlando Pride for the remainder of the 2025 season. She played a significant role in helping the club secure the 2024 NWSL Shield and NWSL Championship.

Trade Details

In exchange for Watt, Orlando received $75,000 in expansion allocation money, valid until the end of 2027, along with an additional $37,500 in transfer funds. The Pride also gained salary cap relief through the loan agreement.

Denver Summit FC's Plans

Denver Summit FC, set to play its first NWSL season next year, has signed Ally Watt, a Colorado native, emphasizing the team's focus on players with local roots. The team also aims to hire former Manchester City and New York City FC head coach Nick Cushing.

Intra-League Loans and Expansion Teams

The NWSL introduced intra-league loans this year as part of roster-building mechanisms for 2026 expansion teams like Denver Summit FC. These teams, including Boston Legacy FC, have access to significant allocation money to bolster their squads, with funds available until the end of 2027.

Overall, the trade marks a significant moment for both Watt and Denver Summit FC, setting the stage for an exciting debut season in the NWSL next year.
