- Chelsea has secured a £60 million deal for Brighton's João Pedro, with the striker opting for Stamford Bridge over Newcastle. Pedro, 23, will undergo a medical to join Chelsea in time for the Club World Cup.

Chelsea Secures £60M Deal for João Pedro

Chelsea Football Club has reached an agreement for a £60 million deal with Brighton striker João Pedro, as confirmed by sources at ESPN. The 23-year-old forward had received interest from Newcastle but expressed his preference for a move to Stamford Bridge.

Key Deal Details

The deal comprises an initial £55 million fee with an additional £5 million in potential add-ons. João Pedro has agreed to a seven-year contract with Chelsea, which includes a clause for Brighton to receive a percentage of any future transfer fee.

Medical and Club World Cup Participation

João Pedro is scheduled to undergo a medical examination in the coming days in the U.S. The aim is to complete his registration in time for Chelsea's upcoming Club World Cup campaign. FIFA regulations allow up to two players to be added before the deadline, with Chelsea set to face Palmeiras in a quarterfinal match in Philadelphia.

New Signings and Team Restructuring

João Pedro's addition, along with the recent signing of Liam Delap for £30 million, is part of Chelsea's efforts to revamp their forward line. However, the arrival of Jamie Gittens, another new signing, may be delayed due to his prior involvement with Borussia Dortmund. These signings may impact the future of Christopher Nkunku, who has been linked with a move away from the club.
