Tottenham Sacks Ange Postecoglou Despite Europa League Victory

Tottenham Hotspur has terminated Ange Postecoglou's contract despite his success in leading the team to a Europa League triumph and ending a 17-year trophy drought.

Disappointing Premier League Performance

Although Postecoglou fulfilled his promise of winning trophies in his second season by securing the Europa League title, Tottenham's 17th place finish in the Premier League and record number of defeats led to his dismissal.

The decision came after Tottenham's defeats in the Carabao Cup semifinals and the FA Cup fourth round, in addition to poor domestic performance in the league.

Club Statement

In a statement, Tottenham acknowledged Postecoglou's contribution but stated that a change was necessary for the club's best interests, despite his European success.

Postecoglou joined Spurs in 2023, achieving a fifth-place finish and Europa League qualification in his debut season, but struggled in his second season due to injuries and a strained relationship with fans.
