- Former Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has turned down the Italy coaching job, opting to continue in his advisory role at Roma. Italy sacked Luciano Spalletti after a 3-0 defeat to Norway.

Claudio Ranieri Turns Down Italy Coaching Role

Claudio Ranieri, the former Leicester City manager, has officially declined the Italy coaching position, choosing to stay in his senior advisory role at Roma.

Background: Italy's Coaching Vacancy

Italy parted ways with Luciano Spalletti following a 3-0 loss to Norway. Despite the dismissal, Spalletti managed Italy in their game against Moldova.

Ranieri's Decision

After leading Roma to a fifth-place finish in Serie A last season, Ranieri was considered for the Italy job. However, he announced his decision to reject the offer, expressing gratitude to the club's support and confirming his commitment to Roma.

In a statement to ANSA, Ranieri said, 'I'd like to thank president Gabriele Gravina for the opportunity, a great honour, but I have reflected and decided to remain at Roma's disposal in my new position completely.'

Future Plans

With Ranieri opting to stay at Roma, Italy will need to search for a new coach ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Estonia in September.
