Gambian Defense Minister Commends Turkey

Gambian Defense Minister Serign Modou Njie lauds Turkey for its exceptional bilateral relations and support since gaining independence in 1965. Njie expresses gratitude for the assistance received in defense and education sectors, highlighting the participation of Mehter Band Unit in Gambia's 60th independence anniversary celebrations.

Exceptional Bilateral Relations

Njie emphasizes the strong historical ties between Gambia and Turkey, mentioning the significant support provided by Turkey over the years. He acknowledges the role of Turkey in education, with over 30 Gambian students annually receiving scholarships for undergraduate, master's, and doctoral studies in Turkey.

Njie also extends appreciation to Turkish Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler for the support extended to Gambia, including the recent acquisition of 17 armored personnel carriers, enhancing Gambia's defense capabilities.
