No ads for Twitter VIPs

- Twitter users are in the eyes of the social media not all equal. Some twitterers are in fact 'valuable' and that people therefore get no ads in sight.

The philosophy behind this new feature is that many people tweeting and places original posts, attract other users. As a 'reward' these people get to see less or no advertising at all. Reported Recode.

It is not clear exactly how to become a 'useful' user. It seems that the number of followers is important. It is not known how many people turn off the ads and how much revenue the company will miss out. In 2015 the company made $ 2.2 billion in revenues, which almost all came from advertising.
