united states - Storm Helene has claimed the lives of 191 people in the United States, causing significant damage across six states. President Joe Biden visits affected areas and deploys military for relief efforts.

As reported by CNN on Thursday, storm Helene's passage through the United States has resulted in the tragic loss of 191 lives. Last week, the storm made landfall in Florida as a hurricane of the second-highest category before weakening and moving northward, causing extensive destruction in six states.

President Joe Biden visited the storm-affected states of North Carolina and South Carolina on Wednesday. During his visit, he met with rescue workers and conducted an aerial tour of Asheville, a city that suffered severe flooding.

Earlier on Wednesday, it was announced that Biden would deploy up to a thousand military personnel to the affected region to provide assistance. Their primary focus will be delivering food, water, and medicine to remote areas.

Accompanied by Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, Biden observed the devastating impact of what Mayorkas referred to as the 'historic force' of Helene, stating that entire villages were wiped out. Mayorkas predicted that the recovery process would span several years and cost billions of dollars.

Vice President Kamala Harris also visited an area impacted by Helene on Wednesday, engaging with rescue workers and affected individuals in Augusta, Georgia. The White House announced that Biden will visit Georgia and Florida, the states hit by Helene's landfall, on Thursday.
