New Miss Universe is from Philippines

- The Philippine Pia Alonzo Wurtz Bach can claim to be the new Miss Universe. She beat at the international beauty contest in the US Las Vegas candidates from some eighty countries, including the Dutch Jazz Jessie Vuijk.

The presentation of the coveted crown did not go entirely smoothly. Presenter Steve Harvey had to apologize after he initially Colombian Ariadna Gutiérrez had been declared winner. This was a human error. I'm very sorry , the comedian tweeted afterwards.
