Migrants stitched in container Libya

tripoli - At least eight migrants, including six children, were stuck in Libya in a container. Another ninety other people who have been removed from the container are in critical condition. They have been transferred to a hospital, local authorities say.

On pictures it can be seen that also jerry cans with petrol and lifejackets were stored in the container, which was actually intended to transport meat or fish. The life jackets were presumably for use during a crossing to Europe. Zuwara, which is located about 110 kilometers from Tripoli, is one of the coastal towns where people smugglers are active.

Temperatures in northwestern Libya have risen to well above 30 days in recent days. The migrants in the container came from various countries, including Pakistan and Bangladesh.
