French Restaurant Owner Admits to Cooking Body Parts to Erase Murder Traces

Philippe Schneider, a 69-year-old former butcher, admits to slicing a man into pieces and cooking body parts with vegetables after a burglary gone wrong in 2023. His partner, Nathalie Caboubassy, denies any role in the gruesome murder.

Details of the Crime

Schneider reveals that they were caught by the victim, Georges Meichler, during a break-in, leading to his accidental death. To conceal the murder, they burned the victim's head, hands, and feet, while cooking other body parts in a pan with vegetables.

Loup Benrakia, also involved, was instructed to cook the contents until the meat fell off the bones, claiming it was for a dog if questioned. The case unraveled when Meichler's daughter reported his sudden disappearance.

Legal Proceedings and Sentencing

Schneider faces charges of kidnapping resulting in death and corpse concealment. His lawyer attributes the absurd act to his substance abuse. Caboubassy and Benrakia face complicity charges, with potential life imprisonment for Benrakia and a 20-year sentence for Caboubassy. The verdict is expected on May 22.
