syria - Ahmed Shara, the leader of the new government in Syria, expressed his belief that 14 million Syrians will return to their country in the next 2 years following the collapse of the Baas regime.

Ahmed Shara, the leader of the new government in Syria, shared his thoughts in an interview with Youtuber Joe HaTTab, stating that Syrians who were forcibly displaced and forced to leave the country due to the collapse of the 61-year-old Baas regime have started returning to their lands.

Shara emphasized that in the areas they have control over following the overthrow of the regime, people have not been displaced but rather more individuals have come to live there. He highlighted that people from all walks of life are now living together harmoniously. He indicated that the number of returnees to the country will increase, stating, "I am sure that 14 million Syrians will return to their country in the next 2 years. Only 1 or 1.5 million will remain behind."

Shara mentioned that resolving current societal issues will take time but can be overcome with stable plans and social education. He stated, "We will have priorities in the construction of the state. We will build institutions that dispense justice." Describing their goals as a "victory without revenge," Shara expressed his approval of the amnesty policy and their positive approach to those who switched sides after the regime's overthrow.

However, Shara pointed out some exceptions, stating, "There will be no amnesty for those who have tortured in Sednaya Prison and other security branches, those who have dropped barrel bombs, and those who have committed massacres."
