Trump Administration Considering Concessions to Russia Regarding Ukraine Conflict

The Trump administration, set to take over in the US on January 20th, is sending messages to Ukraine through National Security Advisor Michael Waltz that it needs to make concessions to Russia for a deal. Waltz stated in an interview with ABC that Ukraine's goal of fully recapturing lost territories in the conflict is unrealistic. He also hinted at ongoing negotiations between Washington and Moscow regarding the Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporojye, and Herson regions still under occupation.

The first summit meeting between Trump and Russian President Putin may take a few months to prepare, according to Waltz. The Kremlin, on the other hand, is waiting for the upcoming administration to see if there will be a shift in the US approach to the Ukraine conflict.

Meanwhile, Turkey was involved in a recent development related to the Ukraine conflict when Ukrainian kamikaze drones targeted the "TurkStream" gas pipeline station over the Black Sea. The attack, carried out on January 11th, was repelled by Russian air defense systems without impacting gas flow to Turkey.
