china - Researchers in China have created special contact lenses enabling night vision and enhanced sight capabilities, potentially benefiting colorblind individuals.

Revolutionary Contact Lenses Developed for Night Vision and 'Super Sight'

Researchers at the University of Science and Technology in China have unveiled groundbreaking contact lenses that allow individuals to see in the dark.

Innovative Technology for Enhanced Vision

Professor Tian Xue, the lead researcher, highlights the potential of these lenses to provide users with 'super sight,' opening doors for various smart contact lenses and wearables.

Humans naturally perceive only a small fraction of the light spectrum around us, while many animals possess enhanced visual capabilities. By developing minuscule particles that convert infrared light into visible light in the form of a lens, scientists aim to broaden human vision.

Successful Testing and Benefits

Initial tests with the infrared lenses showed promising results. Participants were able to detect flashing signals, such as Morse code, and identify the source of the infrared light. Surprisingly, they experienced improved vision even with their eyes closed, as infrared light penetrates eyelids more effectively than visible light.

Unlike night vision goggles, these lenses are battery-free and capable of detecting multiple types of infrared light simultaneously, setting them apart and holding great promise for the future.
