During an event in New York, Musk presented a Global Citizen Award to Meloni, praising her as an honest and attentive politician. Meloni in return called Musk 'a precious genius'. The speculations of a romance between the two escalated after the event, but Musk clarified that there is no romantic relationship.

In a separate incident, Meloni ended her 10-year relationship with Andrea Giambruno due to his sexist remarks, while Musk welcomed his twelfth child with partner Shivon Zilis, a top manager at his company NeuraLink.
