Inventor Heimlich maneuver saves woman
- Dr Henry Heimlich, inventor of the famous Heimlich maneuver, with his famous invention saved the life of a 87-year-old woman. It was only the second time the 96-year-old doctor applied his famous grip.
Doctor Heimlich sat in a restaurant in nursing Deupree House in the US city Cincinnati, when the 87-year-old woman choked on a piece of hamburger. The doctor showed why his famous grip is so effective. 'It's fanbtastisch that I still am able to save lives,' Heimlich beamed in the Cincinnati Inquirer.
His son is very proud of his father. 'Just the fact that a 96-year-old man is this still that a sensation,' said son Phil Heimlich. Dr Heimlich, who technique invented in the 70s, keeps himself fit by swimming and walking daily.
