- Indian women will soon get a special button on their mobile phone that they can press in case of emergency. Both new and existing phones are equipped with the panic button, said the Minister of Development for women and children to the newspaper The Times of India.

When a woman is in trouble, they need only pressing the button and then comes immediately help , said Maneka Gandhi.

Women are very unsafe in India and regularly victims of rape or abuse. According to a report by the World Economic Forum on the difference in position between men and women, India, this year at the 108th place out of 145 countries. Last year was the 114th place.

According Maneka are now ten crisis centers for women in refocusing and there are 660 in the country. There, women can receive free medical, legal and police assistance.
