Liverpool Signs Goalkeeper Freddie Woodman

Liverpool FC has reached an agreement to sign goalkeeper Freddie Woodman from Preston North End upon the expiration of his contract. Woodman, 28, will serve as a backup for Alisson Becker and Giorgi Mamardashvili in the upcoming season.

Background and Career

Woodman, who began his career at Newcastle United, impressed during his three-year stint at Preston, making 138 appearances and earning the club's Player of the Year award in 2022-23. Additionally, he has represented England's under-21 national team, featuring in six matches.

Giorgi Mamardashvili, Liverpool's previous signing under manager Arne Slot, will also reinforce the goalkeeping squad alongside Alisson and Woodman. Mamardashvili joined the club from Valencia last summer but continued with his former team for the rest of the season.

Woodman is expected to join Liverpool for pre-season training, gearing up for his role in the team's goalkeeping setup.
