israel - Bodies of four Israeli hostages handed over to Israel after harrowing ordeal, involving gunfights with Hamas and heartbreaking last conversations.

Four Israeli Hostages' Ordeal with Hamas

The bodies of four Israeli hostages were handed over to Israel after a traumatic ordeal involving Hamas. The details of their deaths vary, but the stories of their abductions are horrifying.

Ohad Yahalomi, 49, got into a gunfight with Hamas during the chaos on October 7. His attempt to protect his family failed as he was overpowered by the terrorists.

Yahalomi was shot in the leg by Hamas and his wife and three children were taken captive. The family was separated, with the youngest child, Eitan, being released later on.

Another hostage, Tsahi Idan, 49, was taken from his home by Hamas. He tragically lost his daughter during the abduction.

Itzik Elgarat, 69, was shot and captured by Hamas during the attack. His brother claimed he died in captivity due to starvation.

Shlomo Mantzur, 85, was killed in his home during the Hamas assault. His wife managed to escape the attack.

The exchange saw over 600 Palestinian prisoners released in return for the hostages. Hamas claimed some of the released prisoners were serving life sentences for serious crimes.

Many hostages, both Israeli and Palestinian, suffered immensely during the ordeal. The conditions in Israeli prisons for Palestinian inmates have been described as severe and inhumane.

This exchange marks the end of the first phase of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. The fate of the remaining 59 hostages held by Hamas is yet to be determined.
