milan - Several women have reported incidents of sexual assault by aggressive men in Milan after celebrating the new year at famous locations in the city.

Several women have come forward to Italian authorities after experiencing sexual violence in Milan on New Year's Eve. Six Belgian students, four women, and two men, traveled to the northern Italian city of Milan to celebrate the new year. However, their night took a horrifying turn when they were allegedly assaulted by a group of men outside the famous Vittorio Emanuele II gallery and shopping street.

The group was surrounded by men aged between 20 and 40 after fireworks were set off in the crowd. Laura Barbier described the ordeal, stating that they were unable to move as they were groped and touched inappropriately. It took the intervention of a brave Italian man to help them escape the situation.

Barbier's story gained widespread attention in the Italian media, sparking outrage and leading to political figures, including Prime Minister Georgia Meloni, speaking out on the issue. Italian authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and have called on other victims of sexual violence to come forward.

Barbier, who has been contacted by numerous Italian journalists, emphasized the need for accountability and justice in the case. The victims had initially returned to Belgium without filing a report, but efforts are being made to gather more information and testimonies to support the ongoing investigation.
