offenbach - Warm air is currently doing temperatures in the Arctic rise to unprecedented heights. A weather station on a buoy located 500 kilometers from the pole gave Wednesday a temperature of exactly zero degrees.

According to the national weather institute of Germany mat another buoy, 330 km from the pole, minus 1 degree. This is the temperature level at about 30 degrees above the normal value in this area. Possibly, the temperature above the freezing point Thursday.

That warm air reaches the pool, often happens in winter. However, this is very unusual , said a meteorologist at the German Weather Service. After Thursday the weather gets colder, but it remains relatively mild in the Arctic.

Temperatures are recorded in the Arctic by buoys. There is no weather station. The nearest land is Spitsbergen, 1,500 kilometers from the pole. There it was Wednesday plus 3 degrees, about 15 degrees higher than normal for this time of the year.
