Suriname's New Coalition Government Formation

Suriname's potential ruling parties have revealed the distribution of positions within the government. The NDP secures significant roles, including President Jennifer Simons, Parliament Speaker, and six out of seventeen ministers, overseeing Finance, Planning, and Foreign Affairs.

Commitment to Inclusive Development

President Simons pledges her dedication to serving the Surinamese people, aiming for a more inclusive approach to utilize the country's abundant natural resources for the benefit of all citizens.

Future Plans and Focus on Oil and Gas

Vice President-elect Gregory Rusland's National Party of Suriname will lead three ministries, including Oil, Gas, and Environment, highlighting the government's focus on upcoming opportunities. With TotalEnergies and Apache set to start oil production in Suriname's deep sea in 2028, the government aims to maximize the country's participation in exploration.

Rusland emphasizes the importance of unity post-election, ensuring equal opportunities and a prosperous life for every Surinamese citizen.

ABOP Chairman Ronnie Brunswijk expresses optimism about Suriname being led by a woman for the first time. He reassures his commitment to the government, drawing on his past experience working under previous administrations.
