mar-a-lago, florida, usa - US President Donald Trump made remarks regarding Turkey's importance and expressed respect for President Erdogan, as well as calling for Canada to become the 51st state of the US.

US President Donald Trump held a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, where he discussed foreign policy issues and emphasized the importance of Turkey. Referring to his first term as president, Trump mentioned that he had defeated the ISIS terrorist organization in Syria and withdrawn a significant number of American soldiers from the country. When asked about the possibility of withdrawing the approximately 2,000 American troops in Syria, Trump stated that it was a matter related to Turkey, highlighting the importance of Ankara. He described President Erdogan as a friend whom he respected and believed reciprocated the respect.

Regarding the recent developments in Syria, Trump commented on the weakening of Russia and Iran in the region. He praised Erdogan's strategic decisions and intelligence, stating that Erdogan had sent his men to Syria under various names and forms to seize control. Trump also mentioned a conversation with a general about the risks American soldiers faced in Syria, leading to his decision to withdraw them in order to avoid casualties. Trump reiterated his call for Canada to become the 51st state of the US, emphasizing the mutual benefits and security arrangements between the two countries. He claimed that many Canadians favored the idea of becoming a US state, citing the need for Canada to contribute more financially to the US. Additionally, Trump touched upon the situation in Ukraine, accusing the Biden administration of disrupting an initial agreement between Russia and Ukraine.
