los angeles - Local media reports progress being made by firefighters in Los Angeles in extinguishing the wildfires that have been raging since January 7th.

Firefighters in Los Angeles are making progress in extinguishing the wildfires that have been ravaging the northern and northwestern parts of the metropolis since January 7th. The hot east winds, known as 'Santa Ana winds' in southern California, periodically create ideal conditions for the outbreak of wildfires. These winds are held responsible for the rapid spread of the fires that have claimed at least 25 lives. However, the origin of the fires in upscale neighborhoods like Pacific Palisades, Pasadena, and Hollywood remains unknown. Some individuals have been arrested on suspicion of arson.

The largest fire is in Pacific Palisades, northwest of Los Angeles, where an area of 96 square kilometers has been engulfed in flames, with approximately 2750 buildings completely destroyed and nearly five hundred buildings damaged, as reported by the Los Angeles Times. This fire is now more than 20 percent contained. The second-largest fire is located 40 kilometers east near Pasadena and Altadena, where around 57 square kilometers have been charred, with 5356 buildings destroyed. The fire was 45 percent contained on Wednesday evening.
