For this reason, Kim Jong-un has doubts about the historic top with Trump

washington - The historic top between North Korea and the United States is under threat, because Kim Jong-un is afraid of a 'Libya scenario'.

That writes the New York Times. Muammar al-Kaddafi agreed to voluntarily hand in arms in a deal with the US in 2003- just as Kim Jong-un is now expecting. Eight years later, in 2011, the same America and European partners invaded the country, with the real goal of eliminating Kaddafi, American media concluded later.

The attack on Libya has gone down in history as one of the most disastrous Western interventions. After the invasion dictator Gaddafi has fallen, but lawlessness, chaos, slave trade and large refugee flows characterize the country now.

North Korea fears the same fate after safety advisor John Bolton had talked about a 'Libya scenario' in April. In the meantime, press officers from the White House are hastily doing 'damage control' by trivializing these statements, but the suffering has already happened.

George W. Bush also commented in 2003 that 'other countries should take the Libya deal as an example,' according to the New York Times, clearly referring to Iran and North Korea. And indeed: those countries have watched the deal carefully, and will think three more times before handing in their weapons, the newspaper writes.
