tel aviv - Israel's recent operation targets Hezbollah's financial resources, including Al-Qard al-Hassan bank, known for money laundering and criminal activities.

Hezbollah is facing financial difficulties after Israel targeted the cash vaults of Al-Qard al-Hassan bank. The goal of the operation is to disrupt Hezbollah's activities, undermine public support, and prevent them from regaining strength in the future.

The primary target is the Al-Qard al-Hassan bank, a non-profit organization used by Hezbollah to pay its fighters. However, it also serves ordinary Lebanese citizens. The institution is known for money laundering and was blacklisted by the United States in 2007.

Hezbollah's financial network is largely fueled by funds from Iran and criminal activities. The organization is involved in drug smuggling, illegal diamond trade, and has ties to criminal groups in South America and West Africa. Hezbollah plays a significant role in drug smuggling in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and is linked to the Sinaloa cartel in Mexico.

In the Middle East, Hezbollah is involved in the drug trade, particularly with Captagon production in Syria. Last week, the US imposed sanctions on Lebanese and Syrian entities involved in this trade, which is linked to terrorist groups like IS and Hamas.
