Poland Takes Over EU Presidency from Hungary

Poland has taken over the rotating presidency of the European Union from Hungary until July 1, 2025. The slogan for Poland's presidency is set as 'Security, Europe!'

Being the country most affected by the Russia-Ukraine War and bordering Belarus, Poland aims to encourage other member states to increase defense spending and strengthen the European defense industry.

Additionally, Poland plans to address comprehensively the migration and security challenges at the EU's external borders, work on new solutions to reduce irregular migration, and enhance procedures for returns.

Highlighting that Belarus is using migrants as weapons and engaging in hybrid warfare, Poland's government will also focus on combating disinformation and reducing energy dependency.

The presidency will be handed over to Denmark on July 1, 2025.
