washington - Future American President Donald Trump has announced on his social media platform Truth Social that he intends to replace the current FBI director, Christopher Wray, with Kash Patel, a vocal critic of the agency.

Current FBI director Christopher Wray, appointed by Trump in 2017, is facing replacement according to Trump's recent announcement on Truth Social. Trump has expressed his dissatisfaction with Wray over the years, culminating in the decision to nominate Kash Patel as the new FBI director. Wray's term is set to end in 2027, but Trump aims to make the change sooner.

Kash Patel, a strong critic of the American federal investigative service, is poised to take over from Wray if Trump's decision goes through. During his time as FBI director, Wray has drawn Trump's ire on multiple occasions, including authorizing a search of Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate for potential confidential documents. Trump had previously threatened to dismiss Wray during his election campaign. FBI directors are generally appointed by law for a ten-year term to maintain independence from political influences.

Patel, who provided counsel to top intelligence and defense officials during Trump's first term, has advocated for the closure of the FBI headquarters in Washington and the removal of FBI leadership members who do not align with Trump's agenda. Patel authored the book 'Government Gangsters,' which Trump hinted in 2023 could serve as a roadmap to combat the influence of the Deep State.

Reports indicate that Patel has also issued threats to journalists, promising to pursue legal action against those who are perceived to have supported Joe Biden in manipulating the presidential elections. Trump praised Patel's credentials on Truth Social, highlighting his legal expertise, investigative skills, and dedication to upholding justice and protecting American interests.

The nomination of Patel has drawn comparisons to Trump's unsuccessful attempt to appoint Matt Gaetz as the Attorney General. The selection of Patel is expected to face significant opposition in the Senate, as per The New York Times. Nonetheless, Patel has garnered public support from key Republican figures.
