- New documentary reveals never-before-seen footage of a widow hearing the implosion of the Titan submarine that tragically sank during a dive to the Titanic wreck in summer 2023.

Widow Recalls Titan Submarine Implosion

A new documentary unveils the harrowing moments when the wife of a Titan submarine victim heard the vessel implode during a dive to the Titanic wreck. The Titan, owned by Oceangate, sank with all passengers onboard, including CEO Stockton Rush and British explorer Hamish Harding.

Tragic Dive Incident

The passengers, including experienced divers and a businessman with his son, descended in a small submersible to explore the Titanic remains 3,800 meters deep in June 2023. Tragically, the submarine imploded, leading to the loss of all onboard.

Documentary Reconstruction

Exclusive footage from the US Coast Guard reconstructs the disaster, showing Wendy Rush hearing the fatal implosion sound from the support ship. The documentary reveals safety concerns raised prior to the dive, indicating the tragedy could have been prevented.

Submarine Safety Issues

The Titan had never undergone an independent safety assessment and was built with faulty carbon fiber materials prone to delamination under pressure, suspected to have caused the implosion. The fatal dive was the 80th for the submarine, prompting criticisms and legal actions against Oceangate.

Aftermath and Legal Actions

The aftermath of the Oceangate disaster includes ongoing legal battles and potential criminal charges. Oceangate has ceased operations pending legal proceedings. The documentary 'The Titanic Sub Disaster' airs on BBC Two on May 27 at 9:00 PM.
