tunis - Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad is a 'terrorist' who is an obstacle to peace in his country. Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan said this during a press conference with his Tunisian counterpart Beji Caid Essebsi.

Erdogan accused the Syrian president of having hand in 'state terrorism. '' It is impossible to continue with Assad, 'Erdogan said. He stated that Assad 'killed nearly a million of his own subjects. '

Turkey already insisted on the departure of Assad. Ankara, however, was prepared to look for a political solution to the lingering conflict with Russia and Iran. These countries are the pillars of the Syrian regime.
